Magnitude 4.5 earthquake strikes near Polangui, Albay, Bicol, Philippines

Just 12 minutes ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Polangui, Albay, Bicol, Philippines. The tremor was recorded early afternoon on Monday, July 6th, 2026, at 2:06 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10. km below the surface.
The event was filed by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.5 earthquake as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Claveria (pop. 6,200) located 25 km from the epicenter.
