Just 4 minutes ago, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck near Cantwell, Denali, Alaska, USA. The tremor was recorded late at night on Friday, September 11th, 2026, at 10:38 p.m. local time, at an intermediate depth of 48 miles below the surface.
The event was reported by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which also listed the quake at magnitude 4.0.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Cantwell (pop. 220), located 39 miles from the epicenter. In Susitna North (pop. 1,300, 53 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
