According to preliminary data, the quake occurred at an intermediate depth of 109 km. The earthquake's impact may have been tempered by its relatively great depth below the surface, making it feel weaker at the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their reports.
