Significant magnitude 5.2 earthquake 82 km west of La Serena, Chile

An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred around noon on Friday, July 31st, 2026, at 12:47 pm local time near La Serena, Provincia de Elqui, Region de Coquimbo, Chile, as reported by The National Seismological Center (Centro Sismológico Nacional, CSN) of the University of Chile.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a moderately shallow depth of 30. km.
