India is preparing to roll out polymer banknotes for initial trials shortly. The Reserve Bank of India plans to launch one billion pieces each of Rs 10 and Rs 20 denominations. These innovative polymer notes will coexist with current paper currency, with the goal of improving the longevity of lower denomination notes.
