SUMMARY OF 800 AM PDT...1500 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...25.8N 127.4W ABOUT 770 MI...1240 KM W OF PUNTA EUGENIA MEXICO ABOUT 780 MI...1260 KM SW OF SAN DIEGO CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...40 MPH...65 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...WNW OR 300 DEGREES AT 9 MPH...15 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1000 MB...29.53 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Post-Tropical Cyclone Marie was located near latitude 25.8 North, longitude 127.4 West. The post-tropical cyclone is moving toward the west-northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h) and is forecast to turn to the northwest over the next day or so. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Steady weakening is expected to continue, and Marie is forecast to dissipate in a couple of days. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Marie will continue to affect portions of the coast of the Baja California Peninsula and southern California for the next couple of days. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office.
