Moderate magnitude 4.8 quake hits 17 miles southwest of Warragul, Victoria, Australia, early morning A shallow magnitude 4.8 earthquake was reported early in the morning near Warragul, Baw Baw, Victoria, Australia. According to the citizen-seismograph network RaspberryShake, the quake struck on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, at 2:27 am local time, at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones because they are closer to the surface.
