Tv Polonia will start in about 10-15 days on GlobeCast platform 12564/30000,then it will be encrypted in mid June. $ 45.00 plus GST per month and you have to buy new receiver $205. Sounds very expensive for one channel.

That is outragous for one channel, you know the more the days pass the more tarbs looked like a fair to good pay tv company, I was only told yesterday by my
nephew he said you get these channels for free by using a Satellite box called dream something I don't understand what he ment but he said something about one pays and the rest get it for nothing but how can they do it when everyone is miles apart.
Has anyone heard of the above or is this just bull or is it true can something be done like this and if so can it be done with tv plus.

@Confused

this is called Cardsharing and can be done using dreambox recievers and a continous internet connection which shares the card details with everyone u share ur card with

so being miles apart doesnt matter all u need is the right equipment and be able to recieve the signal that u want and then the card details get sent thru the internet to everyone who is on ur network and allow them to share the primary card

[ 26. According to the Polish SBS radio on the weekend the company running TV Polonia will be Puma Media.. Their website will be www.pumamedia.com.au and www.tvpolonia.com.au.. Note both websites havent started yet... will be on online in the next week or so.. $45 for one channel does sound ridiculous.. It looks like the duds in Tv Polonia back in Warsaw decided to pick another winner yet again.. Loosers.....

In the USA which Globecast also sell TVP there it cost $28USD a month which is about $36 AUD a month and u get 2 polish channels plus 2 radio channels this price sounds better then $45 a month for 1 channel

http://www.globecastwtv.com/ch_tvp_package.htm

[ 26. And some had a hide to complain about TARBS.
TARBS looks rosy compared to what's happening around the Pay Tv seen at the moment, like I said months ago you will be paying $99 per month for 6 to 8 channels soon if you let them get away with it.They have to slug you to survive but remember there is a saying "Don't kill the goose that lays the golden egg" because this is what they are doing.
Value for money is UBI at the moment Arabic people can get 21 channels for just over $60, Turks are getting 8 channels for the same amount, but some companies will be charging you $99 for 8 channels and that is on the nose.

Sent an email to them this morning havent got a reply as yet will keep ppl posted as soon as I get somethin.. It would appear as though Pumafilm import Polish Movies to Australia and are now just about to start getting into TV/Sat. Hence the high price for Transmition.. Small company means big bucks for one channel.. They are also promising one 24 hour Radio channel directly from Warsaw.. Standby to standby

OK here is an update.. Just received an email from Puma media director.. Apart from promising to get the feed in the country within the next 10 - 15 days he has also given me some more info..
First few weeks will be FTA. Settings as Follows: B3 Sat Transponder13 Freq 12564 Symb 30000 2/3 Horizontal. This means you can use your old TARBS box.. Ok that should be the easy step.. Now most of us know how to realign Ae's However they are willing to provide a service for $66-$110 for realingment(a bit expensive). Once the Scrambled service starts in June(IRDETO 2, I assume) a new decoder will have to be purchased. The price you ask. $320 with smart card supplied.. If you dont have the old tarbs package they will also give you a 85cm dish and cable and intall it for ya for $450 plus gst... The monthly rate will be $45. Currently the line up is TVP and Polish radio Jedynka. They are looking at organizing another TV Channel later on in the year as yet unclear which one.. I'm assuming TVP3 thats what USA has.. Hopefully this helps.. The Websites will come on line probably next week however, always a however... They have only received confirmation that they have the contact.. The contact has as yet not been signed by the Directors in Poland.. The 10-15 may drag on.......

Most expensive paytv in Australia.
But recalling TARBS times it was $62.95 basically also for one channel. TV Polonia was the only Polish channel in the line up. This was why they had only ca 1000 customers.
There was voices here that polish channels if groupped with eg. russian could make quite a package. The reality is polish language is not that related with russian as all balkan lingos. You could group all serbian, croatian, bosnian, macedonian, bulgarian in one and they would all be happy. They all understand these languages.
Russian would probably be closer to those balkans than it is to Polish (not only by similar alphabet of most of them).
So in TARBS times TV Polonia was the only channel watchable and understood by an average Polish viewer. $62 for one ch was a giant rip off.
But still $45+gst... I don't think they'll get too much further than 1000 customers...
Just wonder how long they will last.

I totally agree with you Georgepie. The only way to go is get Pol-Sat and TVN plus TV Polonia together and you have descent package which will attract for sure more then 1000 customers TARBS had. This is something UBI should look at.

Yes I have heard the same from the TARBS days, but TV Poland is one of the only Sat channels available.

Man this package is a joke.....over 7 months of waiting for this..... They should have combined polish channels with russian - i watched both, and many of my polish and russian friends also watched both. Many polish people do speak russian, and they had more than 1 channel for the 62 bucks. I don't think they will get the 1000 customers this time - i was one of them but prob will not b joining with this rip off. I prefer joining MyTV - 6 channels for the same price...

Guys,

Would not be nice to have...Polsat (all channels), TVN (all channels), MTV Poland, HBO...upps - I am dreaming...

1000 customers...I can gamble on that the new offer will not attract "such big number" of poor (should say reach) bastards.

Russian channels...I learnt this language for many years and can not understand a word (or maybe a few..)

I will set my dish to Optus and I will watch it as long as it is free...and will wait for more valuable package (if it will come at all)

Cheers

Boggie

I don't think it really matters how many people speak russian or not - although you would be surprised. Most of the people who do speak Polish are the ones who came here from poland during the communist era, and they speak polish and russian, while the new generation doesn't really know polish that well anyway.
Nevertheless, it doesn't make a difference. What I was saying, was that they should put the Polish channels together with russian - in other words TV Plus should get the contract. They already have a whole heap of channels, and customers and are more likely not to go bankrupt after a few months than a small polish company like - Puma Media. The bigger companies would be able to get more channels, while its obvious that such a small company was not able to negotiate anything more than one channel.
I realy find it hard to imagine that Puma Media will get more than 1000 customers, which is a shame - as there are at least 40,000 polish speaking people in australia.

Whole heap of channels? Are you serious? They got 5-6 channels. And I beleive they have different contracts for Serbian, Bosnian and Russian TV.
They will go bankcrupt before UBI will.

Some more nfo from the Polish Kurier website.. looks like Its all a go. The two websites are almost ready and when you go to them you get a web test page.. Updates on the prices show that the decoder from Puma media will be $205.. It doesnt say if that price includes the smart card.. It does state that the old TARBS boxes (MDS)will not function with the new system even when its free to air.. Hard to beleive since I have a 3110 and I can get FTA no problems.. Maybe its only 3100 that have the trouble. Either way unless you have a smart card cabale receiver be ready to pay.. Once they scramble.. They are recommending 85cm dish but I use 65 and have no troubles getting globecast channels.. Now something intersting that is being stated is that they recommend you use their decoder however if you have your own they will not supply you with any technical help if anything goes wrong.. This eppears to mean that you can use any COT STB as long as its smart card capable.. Does that mean that you may only have to get a smart card from them???? Either way having told many of my Polish friends about it it looks like not many are interested if its only 1 channel... Looks like TVP may only be back temporarly unless the Package can get something better thrown in...

You never own the card with any services.

AS to the signal level they are using an H pol frequency which is a different beam to the dual Aus/NZ one the Globecast use.

I emailed them and got this from the Company... It looks like Globecast are testing the signal now and should be transmitting it as early as Thursday this week.. Fingers Crossed... If things go wrong it could drag into next week... But They assure me it looks good for this Weekend...

Ok. Now TV Polonia is so close I need to clarify something on my setup. All transponders on B3 are on my FTA STB on full blast, 99% quality.
This transponder (12564, 30000 H)is on 99% in the morning then slowly drops in strength to a complete zero after 5 pm. Then around 9.30 pm starts coming back to life and at the moment 10.00 pm is at 35% (watchable) and climbing.
Is anyone getting the same? It has been like this since this tp started with TVN, TVK, Telepace. I live in Melbourne. Any tips welcome.
