Select TV -
I reiterate the open market model as being appropriate, it is proper you have done so and I do appreciate the economic argument.

In relation to CI decoders using Irdeto CAMS 2.06B and 2.09 - I have found, regardless of STB, NO PROBLEMS activating Select TV - where these are Revision 1.0 or greater. OLDER Revision owners of say 2.06 and 2.06B CAMS need only have their CAMS re-flashed.

Refer them to the SCM website and/or Austech for 'know-how' IF they want them upgraded, OR to any number of satellite equipment shops who will do the same for a small fee.

The customer only need check their decoder menu under "Common Interface" then "STATUS" to see if their STB will function. IF the card is inserted properly, it WILL show the Serial Number - here, - all WILL be good.

A problem with CI decoders can apply when the customer has not inserted the sub card "CONTACTS - UPRIGHT", thats it pure and simple.

A similar problem occurs in some embedded Irdeto decoders.

We'll forget those that have not set up their dish, LNB settings properly then complain, - these are pure install questions.

I look forward to your revamped Q&A. I suggest it reference this forum, Austech general and reference should be made as to dish set-up, cabling, switches to the Vetrun site. Apsattv should be referenced for 'news' in the field.

My view is that decoder issues will all settle down - those VERY FEW that do not work by way of activation on V5 cards (I know of two) will simply go the way of the dinosaur, even though they play after activation. (I note refences to lip sync issues - Topfield released firmware update for this on anotehr service, all very easy).

It is the 'satellite forums' that take many questions from customers. Because in my work, legal-roads, government, - I tend to spend time in motoring, consumer and parenting forums when I have the time, - here too I refer folk to forums such as Austech etc, or offer advice on a related subject matter where I can.

NOW OT a moment; whilst Select TV might not like to 'advertise', is it feasible to have a small, light paper, say A5 size flyer made up that can be letter boxed by those in need of exersize? (Or downloaded).

At the moment your pretty invisible, I can't speak for UBI but presume they advertise 'niche'?

Again, for the third time take a look at ABS-CBN. The card I have is a V4.1 (like Austars Spongbob but not married) Nationality: 'USA' - load those in and take a look at the TFC, Pinoy and ANC News Channel EPG (Not Cinema One); THAT is how an EPG should run, 7 days.
