People in general take this time of year to spring clean their house and throw out unwanted things.
Now could be a good time to clear all those unwanted thoughts that you think, and have a spring clean of your mind.

Do you still have your mothers/fathers/teachers/etc thoughts still playing in your head, things that they instilled in you when you were young, thoughts, sayings, instructions, that have no relevance to your life today and are not serving you in the least?

I did a lot of mind cleaning quite a few years ago.

The one I remember the most was an irritating one.
“Pride is painful”, a saying which would be trotted out quite often to my sisters and myself, but seemingly in the wrong context.

My sisters and I all had straightish hair. Our mother, decided every summer that we would look “so nice” with curls.
Did our Mother send us to the hairdresser to get a professional job done?
No she did not, she did it herself.
Stinky perm solution dropping down on us, tight curlers in our hair(ouch at the rememberance!)
And those wonderful words if we moaned and groaned and complained we did not want curly hair would be “ Pride is painful if you want to look nice”.

Who wanted whom to look nice exactly? I personally was ok with straight hair, hair was hair. I had trees to climb, games to play, races to run. Curly hair, “no thanks”.

And the result?

Did we look nice - I think not! Looking back at old summer holiday photographs.
Hahaha… funny now - but not then.

The one saying I did retain from my Mothers box of wisdom was this:
“If a job is worth doing, it is worth doing it well”. I always tried to keep to that one, because it rings so true for me.

Can you remember any sayings that you remember were said to you when you were young, have a think about them. Do they ring true to you now or not?

Is it time for a spring mind clean for you ?
