A 93a is what the police call it. An ICARE interview is what DoCS call it.

Basically it's the same thing, same format, same style of questioning (open ended questions, allowing the child to answer for themselves, not pushing words into the childs mouth etc). The 93a is the formal criminal statement that the police use in to form a criminal proceeding. It's the formal evidence.

I'm not sure about the special format stated to the parents about their children being interviewed with a 93a. I know that the police do inform parents about the interview process etc but i'm not sure of their responsibilities in doing this.
