The biggest problem with the use of profanity, negative responses to posts and that kind of thing is that it is is fuel for future repercussion and many don't realise this.

For example...

Mary Jones wanted to change laws and over a few years she managed to get 3 really important laws changed which had thrown her into the media spotlight for all the right reasons and she'd becoming well known and liked by many and was continuing to see positive change happen due to her actions.

But Mary used to post on a forum that was very public. Her ID was "Lick Me Silly" and the posts she wrote were extremely negative and filled with profanity and outright attacks on those who upheld the laws she was trying to change and those who wrote those laws.

My point is that when things do begin to change, those who wish to see a person or a body of people fail or ridiculed will dredge up anything they can find and use it as ammunition to embarrass the person or body of people to the point where they will either give up their cause or be forced to unnecessarily defend themselves in the media spotlight.

As stupid as it may seem, unfortunately it's fact. Even the user ID a person can pick can become fodder for future ridicule.
