Spears all throughout History Spears are usually wooden weapons that consist of a shaft (pole part of the weapon) and a pointed head at the top of the spear that can be used for many different things. Wooden weapons for fighting are perhaps one of the oldest weapons around. They have been used for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. It has been used for hunting, fishing, and even fighting. Axes and spears were one of the most important weapons used in human history, and it can take some very precise control to get the spear to do exactly as you want. The Thrust The thrust is a combative move used with the spear that delivers the entire weight of the staff and the swing to a very specific and small area. When performing this move, it is important to target very sensitive areas of your opponent's body, such as the neck, groin, ribs, and face, allowing your opponent to become dazed or debilitating them. With a thrust, you need to consider penetrating rather than leaving any blunt force trauma on your opponent. You can use one or both of your hands to perform this task. Defense against Grabs from your Opponent
You need to make sure that you are in a position to not have your staff grabbed by your opponent, however, it may happen. Don't panic, and keep your balance. You won't be doing yourself any favors by freaking out and potentially losing the battle. If your opponent only has your staff in one hand, then it is even easier to recover your staff than it would be if the staff was under his arm.
If your staff is in his hand, then there are a few techniques to consider. Sharply pull your staff to the rear of the shaft and step backwards, wrenching your staff from your opponent's grip. You can wind the whole staff around your opponent's thumb, causing the staff to circle around back to you and potentially even hurt your opponent as well if it hits them. Another technique to try is to thrust your staff sharply forward and take a sharp rearward step, which will help you get your staff back in your hand.
If your weapon is under their arm, there are very few ways to get your staff back. It may be difficult, but it's not impossible to retrieve your staff again. You may have to let go of your staff and back away, which may cause you to resort to wrestling to get your staff back. While this isn't a conventional way to go, if you get your staff back, then it's a win-win situation.
There are many different ways to fight with a staff, but it wasn't always used for war. Back in Victorian England, it was used for sport and for even for boy scouts to earn a badge. It is a remarkable weapon that has been used for a long time. It has been used for war for centuries, and it is an iconic weapon that will be a classic for a long time to come.
