After replacing my clutch and taking the old girl for a spirited drive, I found that I could no longer select reverse.
Anyway I had mum and her gentleman friend over last weekend and got him to attempt to select reverse while I crawled underneath with a torch. Hey presto there it was, the gear linkage socket had come off the ball pivot. Dropped it back on but its evident that the inner nylon socket is broken and it will pop of again.
Lucky for me a got a whole lotta spares with the car that includes a spare gear linkage.
