Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.3 just reported 57 km southeast of Muncar, Indonesia 4.3 quake 1 Mar 8:46 pm (GMT +7) Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported a magnitude 4.3 quake in Indonesia near Muncar, East Java, only 13 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the evening on Monday 1 March 2021 at 8:46 pm local time at an intermediate depth of 75 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.3 as well. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Muncar (pop. 64,500) located 57 km from the epicenter, Srono (pop. 36,300) 63 km away, Negara (pop. 33,200) 66 km away, Gambiran Satu (pop. 22,500) 69 km away, Genteng (pop. 79,700) 72 km away, Banyuwangi (pop. 108,200) 79 km away, Denpasar (pop. 834,900) 88 km away, and Banjar (pop. 89,000) 99 km away. VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our reporting mechanism, either online or via our mobile app. This will help us provide more first-hand updates to anyone around the globe who wants to know more about this quake.
