Moderate magnitude 4.7 quake hits 54 km southeast of Mawlaik, Myanmar (Burma) early morning 4.7 quake 1 Jun 2:19 am (GMT +6:30) Just 11 minutes ago, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Mawlaik, Mawlaik District, Sagaing Region, Myanmar (Burma). The tremor was recorded early morning on Tuesday 1 June 2021 at 1:49 am local time, at an intermediate depth of 80 km below the surface.
The event was filed by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), the first seismological agency to report it.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Mawlaik (pop. 44,500) located 54 km from the epicenter.
