Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.5 just reported 22 km northeast of Faizabad, Afghanistan 4.5 quake 5 Feb 10:46 pm (GMT +4:30) Just 11 minutes ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Faizabad, Faīẕābād, Badakhshan, Afghanistan. The tremor was recorded late at night on Saturday, February 5th, 2022, at 10:16 pm local time, at an intermediate to considerable depth of 214.7 km below the surface. The event was filed by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), the first seismological agency to report it. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Faizabad (pop. 44,400, 22 km away), Jurm (pop. 12,100, 47 km away), Rustāq (pop. 25,600, 81 km away), Chubek (pop. 19,600, 97 km away), and Ashkāsham (pop. 12,100, 98 km away), the quake was probably not felt. VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our reporting mechanism, either online or via our mobile app. This will help us provide more first-hand updates to anyone around the globe who wants to know more about this quake.
