Small 2.9 quake hits near Warragul, Baw Baw, Victoria, Australia 2.9 quake Near S.e. Coast Of Australia Feb 11, 2024 01:54 am (GMT +11) Just 33 minutes ago, a 2.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Warragul, Baw Baw, Victoria, Australia. The tremor was recorded early morning on Sunday, February 11th, 2024, at 1:54 am local time, at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles below the surface. The event was filed by Geoscience Australia (GeoAu), the first seismological agency to report it. A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 2.9 earthquake as well. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Koorooman (pop. 110) located 2 miles from the epicenter, Leongatha (pop. 5,400) 6 miles away, Mirboo North (pop. 2,100) 10 miles away, and Korumburra (pop. 4,300) 13 miles away. In Inverloch (pop. 5,300, 19 miles away), Warragul (pop. 15,300, 25 miles away), Morwell (pop. 13,600, 27 miles away), Drouin (pop. 12,000, 28 miles away), and Traralgon (pop. 24,600, 35 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
