Small tremor of magnitude 3.7 just reported 23 km north of Argostoli, Greece 3.7 quake 4 Mar 7:11 pm (GMT +2) An earthquake of magnitude 3.7 occurred only 7 minutes ago 23 km north of Argostoli, Greece, the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) reported. The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 5 km beneath the epicenter near Argostoli, Kefallonia, Ionian Islands, Greece, early evening on Monday, March 4th, 2024, at 7:11 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Athéras (pop. 170) located 8 km from the epicenter, and Lixouri (pop. 3,800) 20 km away. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Argostoli (pop. 9,800) located 23 km from the epicenter, Samos (pop. 1,300) 23 km away, Ithaki (pop. 1,800) 24 km away, Valsamata (pop. 1000) 26 km away, Poros (pop. 1,100) 39 km away, Lefkada (pop. 8,700) 55 km away, and Preveza (pop. 17,300) 69 km away.
