Small 3.6 quake hits near Ierissos, Chalkidikí, Greece 3.6 quake Aegean Sea Nov 11, 2024 06:23 am (Athens time) The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 3.6 quake in Greece near Ierissos, Chalkidikí, only 4 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Monday, November 11th, 2024, at 5:23 am local time at a very shallow depth of 5 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Karyes (pop. 240) located 9 km from the epicenter, and Ouranoupoli (pop. 1000) 15 km away. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Nea Roda (pop. 1,200) located 22 km from the epicenter, Sarti (pop. 1,200) 26 km away, Ierissos (pop. 3,300) 26 km away, Sykia (pop. 1,900) 33 km away, Neos Marmaras (pop. 3,200) 38 km away, Nikiti (pop. 2,700) 42 km away, and Polygyros (pop. 10,000) 61 km away.
