Moderate magnitude 4.7 quake hits 37 km northwest of Āwash, Ethiopia early morning

The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 4.7 quake in Ethiopia near Āwash, Āfar, only 12 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Monday, December 30th, 2024, at 1:20 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
