Small tremor of magnitude 2.8 just reported 29 km northwest of Pau, France

An earthquake of magnitude 2.8 occurred late at night on Thursday, January 23rd, 2025, at 11:52 pm local time near Pau, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, as reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a very shallow depth of 5. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface.
