Small 3.6 quake hits near Grecale, Province of Agrigento, Sicily, Italy

A shallow magnitude 3.6 earthquake was reported in the morning near Grecale, Province of Agrigento, Sicily, Italy.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the quake hit on Friday, February 7th, 2025, at 7:08 am local time at a shallow depth of 10. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Grecale (pop. 300, 70 km away), and Lampedusa (pop. 4,100, 70 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
