Small magnitude 3.5 quake hits 4 miles southeast of Auburn, Washington, United States early morning Just 12 minutes ago, a 3.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Auburn, King County, Washington, USA. The tremor was recorded early morning on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025, at 3:45 am local time, at a shallow depth of 14 miles below the surface. The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it. Our monitoring service identified a second report from The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.5 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.5. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Auburn (pop. 77,000) located 4 miles from the epicenter, Kent (pop. 127,000) 8 miles away, Federal Way (pop. 95,200) 8 miles away, Franklin (pop. 39,700) 9 miles away, South Hill (pop. 52,400) 11 miles away, Chebaulip (pop. 207,900) 14 miles away, Renton (pop. 100,200) 14 miles away, Renton (pop. 100,200) 14 miles away, and Seattle (pop. 684,500) 24 miles away. In Olympia (pop. 50,300, 39 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
