The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 4.5 quake in Turkey near Samsun, only 23 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the afternoon on Sunday, April 13th, 2025, at 5:43 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the Kandilli Oservatory and Earthquake Research Institute in Istanbul (KOERI-RETMC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.7. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 4.7, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.6.
