Small magnitude 2.3 quake hits 4 km northeast of San Jose del Cabo, Mexico early morning

A magnitude 2.3 earthquake near San Jose del Cabo, Los Cabos, Estado de Baja California Sur, Mexico, was reported only 23 minutes ago by Mexico's National Seismological Service (SSN), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in Mexico. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 5. km beneath the epicenter early morning on Monday, April 28th, 2025, at 1:31 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 2.3 earthquake as well.
