Magnitude 4.7 earthquake strikes near Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos, Philippines Just 10 minutes ago, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos, Philippines. The tremor was recorded early evening on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, at 6:50 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10. km below the surface. The event was filed by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, the first seismological agency to report it. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc. In Bangui (pop. 2,500) located 9 km from the epicenter, Pagudpud (pop. 4,900) 9 km away, and Davila (pop. 3,500) 20 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking. Weak shaking might have been felt in Bacarra (pop. 9,600) located 40 km from the epicenter, Laoag (pop. 102,100) 46 km away, San Nicolas (pop. 34,200) 49 km away, Sanchez-Mira (pop. 26,200) 55 km away, and Batac City (pop. 55,500) 63 km away.
