Small magnitude 3.6 quake hits 8 miles northwest of El Reno, Oklahoma, United States late at night Just 4 minutes ago, a 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck near El Reno, Canadian County, Oklahoma, USA. The tremor was recorded late at night on Sunday, February 15th, 2026, at 10:13 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 1.2 miles below the surface. The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it. A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 3.7 earthquake. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.6. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Calumet (pop. 560) located 5 miles from the epicenter, and El Reno (pop. 18,500) 8 miles away. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Yukon (pop. 25,900) located 17 miles from the epicenter, Bethany (pop. 19,600) 23 miles away, Mustang (pop. 20,200) 24 miles away, Oklahoma City (pop. 681,100) 31 miles away, Edmond (pop. 90,100) 31 miles away, Moore (pop. 60,500) 36 miles away, and Midwest City (pop. 57,200) 37 miles away. In Norman (pop. 128,000, 43 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
