Moderate magnitude 4.5 earthquake 13 km west of Bilasipara, India

A shallow magnitude 4.5 earthquake was reported early afternoon near Bilasipara, Dhubri, Assam, India.
According to India's National Center for Seismology (NCS), the quake hit on Saturday, May 9th, 2026, at 2:10 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface.
