Keir Starmer announced his resignation today as PM and Labour leader after months of declining polls, policy U-turns, scandals (incl. Mandelson ambassador pick), and failure to deliver on growth/public services.
Over 100 Labour MPs pushed for his exit. Rival Andy Burnham’s landslide by-election win last week triggered the final revolt. Starmer accepted his party no longer sees him as best placed to lead into the next election. It’s internal confidence collapse, not just general unpopularity.
