Magnitude 3.7 earthquake strikes near Belchatow, Bełchatów County, Lodz Voivodeship, Poland A magnitude 3.7 earthquake occurred on the morning of Saturday, September 12th, 2026, at 10:41 am local time near Belchatow, Bełchatów County, Lodz Voivodeship, Poland, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a very shallow depth of 0. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones because they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their reports. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc. Moderate shaking probably occurred in Rzasnia (pop. 730), located 2 km from the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Belchatow (pop. 62,900), located 26 km from the epicenter; Radomsko (pop. 44,700), 31 km away; and Wielun (pop. 21,600), 35 km away.
