Significant magnitude 5.0 quake hits 13 km northeast of Kupang, Indonesia, in the early evening

A shallow magnitude 5.0 earthquake was reported in the early evening near Kupang, Kota Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia.
According to the citizen-seismograph network RaspberryShake, the quake struck on Wednesday, September 30th, 2026, at 7:55 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones because they are closer to the surface.
