One of my biggest pet peeves is healthcare. And I have lived in a country where healthcare is provided by taxes for all citizens, and also in a country where it is not provided for all and where it is prohibitively expensive to procure. But my question: with strong enough faith in Jesus, is healthcare even needed? I assume most people, even Christians, will not hesitate to say healthcare is needed despite faith. But I beg to differ. From si (super intelligence): Key Scriptures About Jesus' Healing Jesus is recognized in the Bible as a healer, performing numerous miracles that restored health to many. Below are some significant scriptures that highlight His healing ministry. Healing Accounts Scripture Reference Description Matthew 4:23-24 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in synagogues and healing every disease and affliction among the people. Isaiah 53:5 "By His wounds you are healed," indicating the spiritual and physical healing provided through Jesus. John 9:1-7 Jesus healed a man who was blind from birth, demonstrating His power to restore sight. Matthew 8:14-15 Jesus healed Peter's mother-in-law of a fever, showcasing His compassion and authority over illness. Luke 7:1-10 A centurion's servant was healed by Jesus' word alone, illustrating the power of faith in His healing. Mark 1:40-42 Jesus healed a man with leprosy, showing His willingness to heal and restore those considered outcasts. Themes in Healing Compassion: Jesus often healed out of compassion for those suffering. Faith: Many healings were linked to the faith of the individuals or their friends. Holistic Restoration: Jesus' healings often included physical, emotional, and spiritual restoration. Conclusion These scriptures reflect the central role of healing in Jesus' ministry, emphasizing His ability to heal all kinds of sickness and disease. His actions not only restored physical health but also fulfilled prophecies and demonstrated His divine authority. Here are some scriptures where Jesus says, "Your faith has healed you":
Mark 5:34 - "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering." Mark 10:52 - "Go your way; your faith has made you well." Luke 8:48 - "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace." Matthew 9:22 - "Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well." Luke 17:19 - "Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well." Is there any affliction or disease not healed through faith? Some afflictions or diseases may not be healed due to a lack of faith, unconfessed sin, or other spiritual reasons, but this does not mean that every instance of illness is a direct result of these factors. Healing is often a complex matter that can involve divine purpose and mystery beyond human understanding. Based on this answer, certainly the interventions of medicine would also be unable to heal an affliction that is divinely purposed. However, does a doctor or medicine still play a role? And is preventative medicine necessary, or not?
