Yes and you wonder why people hate foxtel. Please make sure all know this and spread the words about Foxtels dirty tatics. Again I hope Kerry Stokes wins his court case and gets compensated Billions.
Again I had Legal ESPN years ago via intelsat 701 C band service and it was removed because of Foxtel and when I complained they said subscribe to foxtel.
Arrogant pigs!! I pray at night to the devil of the demise of Foxtel.

I would never get foxtel because of the way one pushy saleman came to our door one day and tried to push the issue. But thats business these days but the problem is the general public are starting to wake up to them for lots of negative reasons. remember we only have 20 Mil in this country and most don't want pay tv.

Ok, have to put my penny in the tin. Before TARBS, SBS had a Polish movie on at least once a week. Then TARBS got an exclusive contract with Polish state TV and all Polish programmes dissappeared including a once a week 30 mins news program. Originally the promiss was about $30 a month for subscription to TV Polonia. As we all know it was $62.95 for only one Polish channel. Now you can imagine how Polish community hated TARBS for this all. Not many people among them wanted or could afford to pay that. It became the most expensive pay TV in Australia and this record still stands.
Also it was mentioned on other sat forums there was a few ethnic channels on C band on various satellites - european, asian, etc.(you guys will know better what they were) then TARBS signed them in and they dissapeared as FTA.
I had to remind you about these facts to keep it all fair, even though I know it is not good to say anything bad about TARBS=UBI (this equation is still valid to me) on this site.

Tracesat it doesnt really have anything to do with Foxtel.

Indo TV7 broadcasts to a huge area due to the coverage of the satellite. This huge area includes dozens of Pay tv providers throughout asia. Such as Dream tv, ubc Thailand, Astro in Malaysia and a few others.

Tv7 have had to BISS encrypt the football for a few months now. The large footprint of the satelite signal is the problem.

RCTI had the same problem during the soccer world cup. As the rights in India were sold exclusively
to TenSports yet every cable operator simply tuned into RCTI and Tensports got zero customers.

How do I know about this?
Tensports took legal action against the rights providers and they wanted to fly me over for the court case.

The agents selling the sports rights don't really understand cband footprints!

Very interesting apsattv they were about to fly you over to give evidence this now matches other evidence once handed to me. All pay tv companies are responsible for removing contents on other satellites that they have legal righta to. But I will say it again I had a legal subscribtion to ESPN on the 5 series intelsat at 180 deg E and foxtel wasen't even invented but when they came on the seen they screwed me out of my ESPN. UP yours f.uc.ktel and you expect me to subscribe.

Well the people that sign away so called exclusive rights from their little office in Germany. Didn't really understand that when a satellite signal broadcasts FTA it goes to every country in the footprint and cband footprints tend to be very large.

The reason they asked me is because on my website I was running a list of FTA satellite channels which were screening it.

By the time the rights holders had shut down all the fta cband channel broadcasts the World Cup was finished! mind you so was Kirch Media heeheheh

How will they know if we dont say anything about the footprint of the satellite then,Telkom 1 is only for indonesia not for Australia but with a bigger dish we are able to get the signal,Now I was watching the [premier league every saturday and sunday from channel 7 Telkom 1 but not anymore that was 2 weeks ago]
Now SBS in Australia will show the south american world cup qualifier which comes from Palapa c2 SCTV(Langsat) wich is provided by CCTV 5 from China..what really upsets me is that they wont show the matches from South america in Australia thanks to fukstel but will not allow anybody else to do it.Do you is this shit fair for the poor cunts like me..

Foxtel just wants to protect, what's lawfully theirs. If they paid for the rights, then they should be able to protect what they own.

Tracesat no need for that language.

ITS NOT FOXTEL they are a small player as I pointed out there are many large pay tv operators in the footprint area that Telkom1 covers that would have a problem with Tv7 broadcasting the football into their region.

Foxtel wouldnt give a stuff about a few hundred in Northern Aus watching indo TV7 on 3m cband dishes.

Besides that Tv7 use BISS encryption when the football comes on. The numbers are well known you just need a box that supports BISS.....

Also English football is on other sats, have a look at mwdtv @ 87.5E or Dragon TV...

Hey but you look at Phils case, he had a legal sub of ESPN long before Pay television ever started in Australia and the arrogance of foxtel pushed him out of the way. I bet there were only hundreds around Australia that had ESPN that way so why would foxtel push ESPN to remove these few that probably spent a lot of money buying big dishes. God know how expensive the decoder box was.
Now you wonder why there is so much hatred for foxtel, My Brother lost his Job working for Galaxy and everyone in the know knows that Foxtel was responsible for the removal of Galaxy Pay tv, why? because Galaxy had the rights to all the channels into Australia. Foxtel bought the channels of Galaxy for around $19.60 US per customer but was making a massive loss, Foxtel went to court to get out of it but they failed and the more customers they got the more they had to pay Galaxy so the only way to get out of this contract was to de-stablise Galaxy so it would crash and then the contract would be null and void. How they do this? Easy, they refused to pay on time the money owning to Galaxy and Galaxy was always late Paying the movie studios in the states and that was the demise of Galaxy pay tv and Foxtel took over. You know, you wonder why there is so much piracy against Foxtel, some of it is not just for money or greed, its payback for the sins they have committed and are still committing till today. Pay television is a dirty business. Look what happened to TARBS. You can't tell me they went on their merry way without a helping hand.

phills case is different, Espn via cband was never marketed in the old days as a DTH service. It was more for those that could afford to install cband equipment, such as Hotels, PUBS etc. It made commercial sense for them to phase out the very few Cband users once Foxtel took over selling the channel via DTH ku band.

I'm pretty sure commercial organisations can still sub to ESPN via Television Oceania

Poor Galaxy you're about 95% correct what you said above. There were lots of rumours getting around especially when Murdochs offices were raided by Scotland Yard with accusations flying around with who was pushing the piracy and who was on Murdochs payroll and it had plenty to do with the thoic and DR7 piracy forums and when they raided the offices they found documents relating to the Galaxy days.
Huuum I still have a copy here that was floated on the net about a law suit from the investors from Galaxy to News limited.

If they any sense your govt would create a brand new digital channel that shows the so called protected Australian sports events.

Over here in NZ the govt was to stupid and handed Murdoch all the major sports.

Even most of the b grade stuff that was left has gone to Sky.

FTA has lost pretty much everything to Sky

Hehe funny enough Bathurst has always been on FTA!

TVNZ channel 1

Sky have not got their handds on this one yet but it must be in line to get it eventually.

But usually TVNZ gets complaints about bathurst as its like channel 9 with the cricket. It always goes overtime and they cut the end for the news.

This weekend they are letting it run to 8.pm then putting the news on late..

There are a few other motor events that are still on FTA. Tv3 shows the new A1 racing series and Prime often has the G.P Bikes

The day the Bathurst 1000 goes exclusively to pay tv
is the days I will start not stop stirring of pay tv
in this country. some events in this country should be untouchable and the Bathurst 1000 should be one of them. If pay tv shows it live i don't give a shit but it must always stays FTA, I pity you Cochrane if you ever sell us out.
