When the technology reaches to the level where most channels be transferred all over the world as FTA then prividers will have more options to play with as well as the customers.

Absolutely, in the near future we are all going to need just one provider, an ISP with fast connections. All the services will be accessed directly, including mobile telephony, and no need for middle men like Foxtel, UBI, etc. Initially most video services will be free in order to encourage users, like Internet banking now. After that there will be different models competing, like ISP plans now, either pay monthly for unlimited viewing or pay per view or something more innovative, we shall see.

I agree with you for one point as those wankers only checks the disgusting material for free, but if you check around the world specially in Europe, you will be amazed how many people jump to those services not caring the cost. Even now in Australia, there are so many of them encrypted and sold with smartcard only if you have noticed.
