Well the usual the thing with most big construction projects is to offer a nice big juicy cash bonus if the job is completed on time and to standard.

and most likely you also have to "greece" ;-) a few palms along the way to keep everyone happy.

Mixo
I will try to write this very simply, so yourself and others can understand.
1. Mike Boulos for one is very dilligent with his money and so are most of us.
2. Uplink fees from a third party uplink company would cost UBI multi million dollars a year for a lousy few channels and if you enter into a short term contract say to bring your beloved MAD TV or others for a few months, it would cost you more for those few channels than if you settle for a long term contract. So, why in the hell would you want to pay for the above, when you can do this below:
3. Buy a block of dirt, say in Greece for a few million dollars, spend anything up to ?? millions (its not up to me to say how much its costing them) setting up a teleport. Even when their two teleports will be fully operational, that means that the ??? will own them and again I am not saying who actually owns them. It doesn't take a smart person to work out that it isn't going to cost him any uplink fees and at the same time, not only is he saving uplink fees, he will be able to make money by uplinking services for other customers. It will only take a few years to recover his costs and it will be one less bill to pay. Somehow or other I have a feeling you guys want your channels today and you don't give a rats A.R.S.E how many millions it cost UBI for a short term as long as you have them thats all you care. The idea of the game is to get them here as cheap as possible and thats where UBI's success will be. Again, it doesn't take a smart person to add up the sums to see what advantage you have by owning your own teleports. It takes longer to set up as we all know for different reasons but eventually they will be operational. The next big problem, there is no doubt about it, the teleport will break down one day in Greece, I wonder who they are going to get to maintain it?

What I read above makes 100% sense. Why would you want to pay someone a large amount of money when you can do it yourself and at the same time make money and recoup the cost of the installation in a few years. Thats good thinking. Not only it cost him nothing to uplink his own, but he will also become a thief like the others around that region that charge to high hell for uplinking fees.

Surely Teleports in Europe are a dime a dozen?

It may have been better for them to buy an existing one rather than build from scratch?

Anyway any details about the Teleport? how many dishes? what size etc?

Now you tell how do you build a cheap Teleport By the way there is more then one dish on this site Maybe Mike Boulos likes the trading post for cheap buys.

Been very quiet lately guys something must be going on. Reading news groups and other forums there is a list of people waiting for Greek and other Balkans channels from any pay tv company in case ubi gets nothing. lots of confusion out there.

Most of the Original Turkish/Arabic Forum members are not on anymore, they have their channels, To busy watching them and most won't be back not unless something goes wrong. Same thing happened with forums that support piracy in the old days when Foxtel/Austar changed to the new cards/system the servers of these forum crashed with overload but now all is quiet.
