I can't win!!!!
2 weeks ago Telstra tell me the exchange has still not been upgraded for ADSL but the minimum customers are about to be reached.
Today they tell me the Exchange is ADSL up and running and ALL TRUCKING PORTS ARE TAKEN, Are they trying to pull a funny on customers from other providers or trying to force them to join Telstra/Bigpond?

Just found out some good info from a friend in the Telstra know...
Cashmere Exchange Has a E30 unit that caters for 1-576 ports,,, this unit carries 12 Cards,,,, at the Moment it has only 4 cards in it,,,, thats a capacity of 192 ports,,,,, and at the moment there is only 28 FUC..king people on it using ADSL Who is telling what? why can't others connect from other companies? My friend told me they might have a RIM problem in the Street.
I forgot to ask are all companies allowed access to these ports, I will ask tomorrow.

Bigpond charge twice the price for ADSL around my way,, some QLD companies are charging around $36 to $42 for 512/128 at 8 GB or TPG 1500/256 20 Gig for $49.

I ran two cat 5 cables from my computer room to my tv room, don't ask. I have been using a temporary cable across the carpet and it runs perfectly. The pinouts on the temporary and permanent wires are correct. yes 100% correct for a straight cable. All I can put it down to is that this 40 metre length of cable in the wall is of poor quality. I have just ordered two ready made 40 metre leads, CAT 6 (yes CAT 6 with the shielding). What is your opinion?

hhhmmm... not sure i setup my network a while ago havent played much with networks but i was under the impression that the cat5 cable i was using was a crossover wiring??

the way i have myn setup is a cat5 cable from my network card into my computer then the other end goes into my 5 port switch which then shares the internet connection and files on all the computers on the network?

also my settings for the home network for my network card which shares the primary internet connection and files on the network is on the main computer is which i had to manually enter

IP : 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0

and then on the rest of the computer just do it repair and it should assign it with all the details thru DHCP

[ 28. Jason
I know the cable feels like me on a cold morning, STIFF and slightly thicker.
I hate power failures just starting to enjoy ADSL and we had a 3 hr power failure at 7.30 last nite.
