I saw a message yesterday on ERT SAT saying that ERT SAT will be encrypted from 1st of September and the AAACOM will be in charge with $14.95 per month subscription fee. Is that right? <br />I mean who would pay $14.95 to receive JUST ERT??? Personally I would rather go with UBI or SelecTV for ANT1.<br />Will RIK SAT be encrypted as well? Does this mean that there won't be any Greek channel FTA anymore?

ERT is being stupid as always this has proberly been brought on by SelecTV as they are trying to sell it when its FTA <br /><br />I dont see why ERT dont let UBI broadcast FTA for all to see all i can is that it has proberly been brought by SelecTV trying to sell it when its FTA on B3 as it has been FTA for about 2 years without any plans for encryption NOT HAPPY!!!!!

Apparently today on the Greek newspaper TA NEA in Melbourne they're saying that ERT SAT will remain FTA and it will also be a subscription channel. Dunno who would pay to watch ERT when they can get it for free?
Couple of weeks ago I visited the ert web site and when you go to ERT sat to see which satellites the broadcast etc. I saw they had AAACOM and it had (subscription) as well as SELECTV.
I went 2-3 days ago to check it out again and they've changed it. It says FREE TO AIR now!
Maybe they are going to stay FTA. Sounds good to me! And BTW ERT SAT has ALL Greek soccer matches for A League in Greece. So Alpha won't even have that!
Finally I will get to see my favorite soccer team (ARIS) live on tc again! hehe

Yeh been told the same here ERT has put the encryption on hold indefinately for the time being due to the overwhelming demand of calls, emails and letters to ERT from Australia all saying ERT should remain FTA
ERT is currently available via subscription on SelecTV for $5 extra ontop of having Ant1 for $25 a month

Answer Uummmm ... my parents were receiving RIK free to air and now they can't get it.... I wonder who is broadcasting it "non FTA" at the moment ???? .... Give us a break from all the bullshit Lazer ! .... Don't blame other's when you yourself hijack a station like "RIK" and then complain that ERT is no longer FTA ! .... Well, ...the day you make RIK free to air is the day you will also make ERT free too !

Ofcourse RIK won't be encrypted !!! .... We have the UBI freedom fighters that will make sure it stays FREE !!!.... Like they are doing for us with ERT !! ...
Tell him Lazer and Lisky !! ... put this man at ease that RIK won't be encrypted. ..... Simply put, if your are fighting for ERT to stay free ... you would obviously have RIK for free !! ... Otherwise, that's quite hypocritical ......
So don't worry Stratos .... UBI will look after us ! ... As they have done before ! ....

Everyody wants somthing for nothing ..... at the end of the day, the Greek Government are going to get sick and tired of paying the entire cost of this service - that is why they are going out for tender again.
If you want ERT to continue in Australia, the community needs to find a way to help offset the costs. The worst case is that ERT will get sick of bleeding money and just shut the service down.
At the moment, TARBS/UBI gets ERT free to add to their Greek package and make it look more attractive by virtue of it being on B3. TARBS/UBI do not pay a single cent to ERT for this service - they are just sucking it dry for all it is worth.
The risk you run is that one day it will disapear completly, or be $30 p.m. ....... Everyone wants it for nothing, but nobody will support the channel - even just for a few dollars per month !!!

We used to have a Greek company importing goods from Greece, distribute to Australia etc. and I've tried to get in contact with ERT SAT to promote some of our products on ERT SAT (support them somehow) but unfortunately noone has got in contact with me from ERT.
It is not our fault but ERT SAT's fault as they don't want to put adds on their channel.
You know what I mean?
