I watched 'ghost in the shell' a few years ago, and it got me thinking, can spirits posess objects/machinery, and thus make them sort of... alive? We've all heard of cars having different personalities, and its a belief of mine that everything strives for life. Even things that have never lived want to live.
So whats your opinion?

You come up with some interesting topics that make me have to really think! And that's a good thing (just have to massage my brain for a minute)... ... there. I can't remember seeing "Ghost in the Shell". But I have read quite a few theories from people whose opinion I value, that all things are made up of energy and are in some capacity alive and have a form of will. Rocks, etc. Do you have further thoughts or examples OMJ?

I think that most spirutal beings that inhabit objects exist in a reality behind this one, like a peice of liminate over some paper, and because our two dimensions have different laws, they collide, like a numbers in a mathmatical sum, and combine to make a set of other laws. In ours, everything strives to live, even dead things do, and I think many antient sivilisations realised this, terracotta armies for example, for the afterlife.

I agree that ancient societies believed that a spirit could inhabit or utilize a non-flesh object or device. The Egyptians/pyramids had vast storehouses of statues and paraphernalia for the afterlife. I'm not so sure that they were too far off in their thinking because I worked in factories for decades and I assure you that some of them machines held the same negative or positive influences of the former employees that ran them. Even if the employee was still alive, but just retired or something. (Cars are somewhat like this too.) I've never watched 'Ghost in the Shell', but I have watched a few other movies of this type... and I think that 'yes' a machine or inanimate object can house a negative or positive energy or spirit. Good subject Jim!

Utterly fascinating insight, Dawn! This is another new area for me to think about that I hadn't really considered before. It reminds me of Stephen King's short story "The Mangler" about an industrial laundry machine that had an (evil) mind of its own!

Yep Stephen King did a nice job of scarying the holy be-jeebers out of me with the 'Mangler', but the movie 'Christine' was really a nightmare instigator... I'm happy to report that the essence or influence of the previous employee that I mentioned is like a machine being hard to get to work right even though it'd be in tip top shape... it was Contrary like the pre-emp... Or the old machine that seen it's better days that would run like a top and rarely need fixing... it was easy going like the pre-emp Thank goodness there wasn't any really gnarly ones... ~whew~

So interesting, Dawn! And synchronistically, I was watching an old "Sightings" show yesterday with a segment on people affecting machines. It was more along the lines of people influencing machines beyond chance occurrence, but still very similar in topic. I have had several computer crashing experiences that had no other explanation than my own projected frustration. My husband is the opposite and keeps computers running smoothly (I call him "The Computer Whisperer" ). And I love playing electronic dice games because when I am "in the zone" I can repeatedly roll exactly the numbers that I need. I'm sure I'm not alone in experiencing this, eh?

I agree with you about the machines and different folks running them. I absolutely can't 'work' my husbands cel-phone... I've decided it hates me...lol My husband has a bit of a struggle getting my desktop pc to work correctly and we've yet to figure out why... I can't wear a watch because they die quickly. I gave up trying to wear watches years ago. I wonder if I could wear one now? It's a sad fact that our bodies change with mid-age and I could have lost that extra elctro-magno-don't know, what it's called that killed watches... I'm going to ponder some more on that...

Wow, you're one of those who crash watches! And other such things. Telekinesis. It makes you wonder what you could do with it intentionally.

Interesting about the mega static electricity, OMJ. I remember having seen a program once on a person who was magnetic and metal things would stick to them. So many interesting phenomena...
