I do not believe that there were not enough ppl paying this amount for Lig-Tv....
As I stated in my earlier posts...its very easy to see the difference between few months apart...
We can not change what's happened but we can force UBI to take appropriate action and rearrage it programming...

Other channels cover the costs of the higher priced channels. The true cost of the Turkish channels would be higher then $70 a month. The total amount at the end of the day balances it across all languages to try and keep costs down. As mention in the past, it costs the same amount to bring 8 Turkish channels into Australia then it is to bring 29 Arabic.

I want LigTV to be added back in the line up.. We have been paying 9.95 for 3 months for nothing, so Mr.Boulos charged everyone that wanted it seen how the PROFIT was coming and wasn't happy with the outcome... simple as that..

That question I can't answer but Lig TV hasn't been UBI's best and most prized Turkish channel.
People were warned back in April when Lig TV went add on and if the support isn't there then you risk loosing Lig TV all together, and look what happened - the numbers were low and price went up even further and goodbye Lig TV.
UBI didn't want it to come down to this but at the end of the day business is business and in my own opinion UBI wasn't launched to be a money loosing business to try and subsidise channel fees if the money isn't there to pay it. It's strange to think that people believe UBI is some kind of charity service, that is what the FTA Government channels are for. UBI must be profitable to be able to continue running and providing the ethnic community a wider selection of channels.

I have been with UBI since the beginning and payed for the extra $9.95 from the day one they sarted as additional...and never cancelled even when the season off as I believe that this is a give & take business and we all do our duties to make it right!.
But. I'm very dissapointed with the end...I might cancell the whole thing and go back to the basic as I allways find TRT-INT is worth to watch and there is allways news as well as good sports programs...

Anyone that paid for Lig TV for this month got an automatic reimbursement to their UBI account for $9.95 so that money is going back into the subscriber's pocket, not UBI's.

for a month and the other months of no soccer. first day of the league and bang gone... If Mr. Boulos was a professional businessman he wouldnt have of scammed the government and did the bankrupt thing... Why have the Turkish community always been the target no other channels are having problems... I'm guessing we are the biggest money margin on his scale and he loves to screw us around... This is definately frustrating and as for CrazyTurk's comments I work for Foxtel in a way, and management are in process of getting these channels to Foxtel, that I have an e-mail from Foxtel Management prooving this. So laugh lazer all you want, i'm sorry no one acknowledges you know the greekish league...

Once again I highly doubt Foxtel will go out of it's way and independently source ethnic channels, just won't happen.
Eren, you make me laugh that you believe UBI is solely after causing the Turkish community grief. I don't have enough fingers to count the amount of rumours I've heard since Saturday when the Lig TV issue started. One being that some kind of Mafia is out to get the Turkish community and one way they know how to through soccer, like come on!

I only wish I made it up. If you were able to hear some of the calls you would understand what the call centre staff go through day in and day out.

We are complatelly off the main subject....
We should consantrate and find a way to resolve this issue...
Abuse or fight will not solve anything other than unnecessary removals, bans etc...also upsetting others not the way to get a result I believe....

DigiTurk might charge them the same fee when their contract is up for renewal or maybe the higher fee isn't necessary as the subscriber base is no where near what it is in Australia.

STOP & THINK ABOUT IT FOR A MINUTE.
WHY WOULD DIGITURK OPENLY COME OUT & SAY THAT WHAT MR B SAID IS TRUE?
Do you think they are that dumb to say it to have 1000's of turks start calling them & complaining to them. Its easy to shift the blame to me B as he is in Australia.
As for Foxtel getting lig tv Ill keep laughing to some one proves me wrong & i eat my own words.

I also think the interpretation and wording of the press conference is a bit wrong. To pay the fee which DigiTurk requests UBI to pay would mean UBI would have to increase the cost of Lig TV to the subscribers four fold, hence UBI has been subsidising the cost of Lig TV for a long time. That would mean 3000 subscribers paying $40 for Lig TV and this cost doesn’t include the actual transmission fees for the signal. I hope this helps

Liski,
Mr Boulos clearly indicated that if 3000 subs pays 4 times the current payment for Lig-TV than he can get the channel back on air...
So, this would be a clear cut if 12000 subs pay their Lig-Tv than there will be no more issues...

Bingo! There was no where near that amount of Lig TV take ups be it as an add on or a la carte - UBI tried to lower the licence fee but no go.

Who the hell came up with that? Sure you're an ethnic pay tv provider, but most people do understand English.

Dumbed down version:
- UBI has been paying DigiTurk approx $120000 a month for the past few years
- UBI can no longer subsidise Lig TV
- For UBI to keep airing Lig TV it would have to increase the cost of Lig TV 4 times what it is now
- That would mean 3000 paying $40 for Lig TV or even 12000 paying $9.95

so what you're saying Liski, Digiturk didn't increase the price significantly but UBI decided not to pay it anymore because it is not commercially viable. Did I understand it right?

To My above Post
I might be doing my maths wrong but ill give it a shot. If ubi where to charge the turkish comunity an extra $5 a month they will need 25,000 Turkish subscribers willing to pay $65 a month just to cover the cost of $1,440,000 that lig tv are asking for.
This info is in no way affiliated with ubi.

I didn't get your comment reuder Just because UBI's customers are of ethnic origin, it doesn't mean they can go el cheapo on the English press release. It also doesn't give the company a professional image.
