I have read the papers and have been told today that World Media International will add a new TV station from Lebanon 'OTV'
They now have..
LBC,ART,Al Jazeera,Al Arabiya,MBC,Future TV,Art Movies, Melody Arabia Future TV news and now OTV and Noursat.
All for $135 a quarter
Liski, I have been waiting and waiting for LBC and OTV to appear on UBI but now lost hope.
I'm sure that their will be some people moving to WMI and I'm one of em.
Now Newtv is the odd one out... and I would think sooner or later that the channel will join the other group.. as OTV did.

Me and ARABIC PACK can write down enything that regards to our service rights, that is we are paying 59.95 and we hoping to get better channels that's worth of watching. UBI promised us to bring premium channels but infact they havent got One premium channel yet, Most of the channels that we have on UBI are free to air on C-band and Ku band, for an example.

UBI have around 80 channels you have listed less then a quater are FTA ( some of which UBI broadcast FTA on Optus D2 eg. ERT World, Aghapy etc ) and not everyone has room for a big C-band dish...
Kurdistan TV is only FTA on UBI on Optus D2 not on C-band
Do I have to explain about MBC again?? WMI Mysat have the Exclusive rights to it end of story and MBC2 and MBC3 are local versions not for international viewing that is why WMI have MBC America like other international versions of MBC
Al Jazeera Sports dont have rights to broadcast alot of the sport they show on there sports channel outside of the middle east
And the rest well will see....
Just so nobody get wrong idea I dont work for UBI nor associated with them this info is general knowledge available anywere to anyone

Firstly please stay on topic.
MBC will not be coming to UBI unless they become non-exclusive with WMI/MySat or some other special arrangement.
Space Toon shows many cartoons that are owned by Cartoon Network/Boomerang in our region so I would have to say no to Space Toon coming to UBI.
I would prefer to wait for Cartoon Network to arrive on UBI rather then get an Arabic based cartoon channel.

cartoon network is exclusive to Foxtel and optus how did they become available in selectv and like you said on UBI soon?...so you saying MBC and Alarabiya are different than cartoon network and other english channels can you explain to me why some channels can be exclusive and non-exclusive ?

Cartoon Network along with the rest of the english channels on SelecTV are not exclusive to anyone Don't know how to explain about exclusive and non exclusive just the way things are some are some aren't most ethnic channels choose to be exclusive on one platform nearly all the time the company that buy the rights prefer this method as they have something nobody else has etc just the way things work in the big world of ethnic pay tv

From what I know the Orbit channels along with the Rotanna channels bouquet are just some of the premium channels in the Middle East, so SymbolRate your a bit wrong.
Some channels might be available on C-Band and are FTA but it's hard for most people to hoist up a C-Band dish for one or two channels - UBI bringing them to KU-Band allows everyone to enjoy them with a smaller dish.
MBC 2 or MBC 3 - are under the MBC banner are exclusive to WMI in this region
Space Toon Arabic – too much content from Cartoon Network so unable to bring that channel in this region
Al Jazeera Sport – too much content owned by Fox Sports, ESPN and etc in this region
Showtime – not allowed as all movies are owned by either The Movie Network Australia or Showtime Network Australia
SymbolRate I suggest you read up on what exclusive and non-exclusive broadcasting rights mean in the pay tv industry.

OK, I thank you for that introduction guys...but why does it take so long to bring the english package to UBI?...I also want to add a little info regardles to spacetoon, cartoonnetwork is no where next to spacetoon...spacetoon brings all the classic cartoons like looney toons, tom and jerry, popey..ect...wheather cartoon network have exclusive cartoon shows another word all the latest and new release cartoons plus its in english. spacetoon is arabic...I know boomerang belongs to CN but it doesnt mean other cartoon satellite channels like spacetoon not allowed to be available in Australia.

Cartoon Network Australia owns the rights to the classic cartoons which you speak of and are broadcasted on Cartoon Network's "Boomerang" channel in Australia.

ART Variety is under the ART Group of channels so only WMI can bring more ART channels if it wants to thats the way it works
Like how WMI have Future TV and they now brang Future News as its under the same group of channels simple as that
Like UBI has Rotana UBI shows all Rotana Channels

WMI is smart, they brought the best package as a start with their company like future tv, MBC, Alarabiya, ART.
Futre tv group = Future NEWS
MBC1= MBC2 MBC3 MBC4 MBC Action
Alarabiya
Art= Art movies, Art sport, Art america, Art international...
If Mysat brings MBC 2 or Art sport Im switching from UBI to Mysat...because it seems like Mysat is after great channels...sorry UBI, but you have to admit that.
I think ARABIC PACK agrees with me..:)

WMI Already have ART Movies and ART America is for America same as WMI have ART Australia
ART Sports shows international sports which is not licened to be broadcast out of the Middle East
MBC2,3,4 etc again only for the Middle East
So whatever WMI has now is it I really doubt anything much will change anymore they have whatever they can have

i want to ask what was the english channels that tarbs world tv was broadcasting in the older days beofre they close as i heard that tarbs was having a english channels.
I hope to ubi the same as english channels.

I wouldnt wait for UBI for english if I was you, I'd get Austar/foxtel, english could be months or years away.
It has been said since 2004/2005 that english will be on ubi once all the ethnic has finished and still waiting, we have just entered 2008 and still nothing, so I wouldnt wait.

But it seems like there is no chance of bringing those channels to our service....Im thinking of hooking up a cable from the Middle east to australia and watch free to air channels and great channels, I very long cable 4456.00000 mitres.
