Italy School Contact Successful<br /><br />On November 19, 2004, students from two elementary schools, San Giovanni<br />Bosco and Gianni Rodari, and one middle school, Ponteo Sarnelli, all in<br />southeast Italy, experienced a successful contact with Leroy Chiao,<br />KE5BRW. Chiao answered 18 questions put to him while an audience of 600<br />students, parents and VIPs looked on. Several TV and radio stations as<br />well as newspapers covered the event. Congratulations to Leroy and the<br />ARISS team on a successful beginning for<br /> Expedition 10!<br /><br />2. Upcoming School Contacts<br /><br />Westhampton Beach Elementary School in Westhampton Beach, New York has<br />been scheduled for a contact with the ISS. It will take place on<br />Wednesday, November 24 at 18:15 UTC.<br /><br />Students from École secondaire Fernand-Lefebvre, Sorel-Tracy, in Quebec,<br />Canada will also speak to Leroy Chiao. The contact has been scheduled<br />for Tuesday, November 30 at 16:17 UTC.<br /><br /><br />3. ARISS Educational Outreach Committee Meeting Minutes Posted<br /><br />ARISS delegate Rosalie White, K1STO, held the bimonthly Educational<br />Outreach and School Selection Committee Teleconference on Thursday,<br />November 11. Foale Named as Administrator for Exploration Operations<br /><br />ARRL ran an article on Expedition 8 crew member Mike Foale, KB5UAC.<br />O’Keefe has selected Foale for the position of an administrator for<br />exploration operations. ARISS Team Thanks Expedition 9 Crew for a Job Well Done<br /><br />On Wednesday, November 17, Kenneth Ransom, N5VHO, presented ARRL Field<br />Day t-shirts and pins to Expedition 9 crew members, Mike Fincke, KE5AIT,<br />and Gennady Padalka, RN3DT, at an informal gathering of Increment 9<br />support staff at JSC. The crew was appreciative, and Mike said that he<br />really enjoyed talking to many of the ham operators on Field Day.
