Yes, there has been another unfortunate shooting and now John Howard wants another gun buyback fiasco. He wants law abiding citizens to hand in their revolvers. One of these days our pathetic politicians are going to realise that all they did with the gun buyback of years ago was generate a massive black market. What he is going to suggest with revolvers and pistols will only become the same. Yes, there are plenty of problems but the politicians don't want to solve the real problems by solving unemployment, solving custody battles and any other matter that pisses the average person off. You see AMP lose billions and I am one that lost a lot of money and the CEO's get perfomance bonuses of 8 million. Come on get real!!!. Unhappy people commit these crimes. If companies, universities and all institutions today did the right by us regardless if you are male or female you would solve our problems, only desperate people like a typical custody battle where an ex-wife will go out of her way to make sure that the father does not get the kids for fathers day or birthdays. Yes, this generates a person that is liable to commit a crime through frustration.
Now, regarding this idiot in the States killing innocent people I bet you its someone in the military or someone that has really been pissed off or sacked from his job. Or who knows, maybe he was sacked from the military because he was too old. All I am trying to say is I have never seen a happy person and especially a happy person that has just won a million dollars go out and commit a crime by shooting someone. Back to the firearm debacle, yes, countries like Indonesia would like it if Australia was totally disarmed. Thats what John Howard wants. Do you really expect our pathetic military and police to defend us in case of invasion, you have to be joking!!! Our military is full of university knowalls. Israel is the exact opposite, a small country like Israel which would fit in Sydneys back pocket would wipe Australia off the face of the world. Why, they have experience in warfare. Australia has very little, we rely too much on the US. It was reported three years ago that Indonesia did comment about John Howard disarming the population, why would they be interested? I know why, see if you can work out why. Funny thing isn't it, someone dies via a fire arm and its get rid of all guns but what about all the Queensland truck drivers that are driving over 12 hours a day and killing people on the road, we won't worry about that. What about all the other meaningless deaths, cigarettes, ohhh the Howard government would lose too much money there in lost taxes and alcohol, all the wife bashings, drunken drivers, the bashings at the pubs and on the streets and fights between the neighbours. Oh, we can't get rid of that, we would lose too many taxes.
Howard, if you are fair dinkum about saving lives, which you are not, before you ban all fire arms, also you should consider banning alcohol sales, cigarettes, any worker working overtime of more than 60 hours a week, defective vehicles on the road, the list goes on and on. The trouble about the government is its not about saving lives, its all abouto firearm bashing.
Phil

Totally agree the politians have double standards, as far as I am concerned there is too much abuse of the worker, look at my Brother in QLD as a mechanical fitter he gets paid shit and gets treated like it, he comes home depressed complaining that the other day he had to go to the toilet regularly as he was sick the boss docked his pay, but he rang his boss in the morning and told him he was not turning up this morning as he did not feal well but his boss insisted he came in. For what to dock his pay for going to the toilet too many times now you know why people go to work mentally deranged and terminate their boss.
As for double standards If they want nobody to own firearms in Australia because of the few Murders we get a year, then to be fair any other device that can harm or kill someone must be rumoved Cars, Trains, plane's, kitchen knives, hammers, "ETC"
And for our Military yes they are inexperienced for Warfare if that ever happened. All our pollies and Green do gooders would fly out of the country and leave us to fend for ourselves
PS this was in a US ARMY Magazine I found a while ago It said "STOP DONT INVADE US OVERWISE I WILL SUE YOU"
Yeah this would be us in Australia.
Fred
