You can see that other outlets are dropping there prices of the dreambox 7000s to compete with Hotchips in Sydney, the Queensland duo Dalsat and Kristal are a bit on the nose as they are trying to sell them for $900 + GST.
Only this week Kristal dropped it prices to a 681.82 + GST ($750)+ Delivery while Dalsat is still trying to sell them for $900 + GST.
Hotchips still are the cheapest if you are a member of the forum (Austech) there $715 inclusive GST to you door in Australia.
Fred.

Fred
My Brother bought one from hotchips last week, it was delivered to his door in Melbourne 2 days after ordering, He said, now the fun starts.
As for the other Sat shops they can go and jump, they're trying to get rich quick, good on Hotchip for selling them for a fair price, I will consider buying one soon as Linux interests me.
Steve

It's good to know you bought a gey import and saved yourdelf money isn't it.

What you have done by buying from Hotchips is supported their quest to ruin the industry by offering grey imports to consumers and selling them at cheaper prices than what the legit dealers do.

This link will explain what happens to you when your box needs fixing under warranty if you bought it from hotchips-It won't be fixed here. It also descibes how HOTCHIPS have imported greys.

http://www.ricksgadgets.com/dreamdealers.html

Now have a look at the next link and see how they are importing greys from Topfield. They are not an authorised dealer either.

See this link

http://www.topfield-australia.com.au/news.asp?newsID=2

NOW HOTCHIPS WHO??????? If they do this to legit business then what are their intentions for you the customer?????

NOW-This is why legit delears charge what they charge. It's becuase they don't go in through the back door buy goods and they do not try to con the public.

Yes-you've been conned like many others.

admin might want to start a thread in the controversy corner asking consumers what would they rather do, buy legit imported products or grey imports.

By the way-Hotchip did this with the humax aswell. They never bought legit boxes from the authorised oz dealer, they bought greys and even had the hide to cyt the eurpoean plugs off them for australian use. Sciteq Perth are the authorised importer.

They also have done this with UEC's. -Nationwide Antenna's Brisbane are the authorised importer

So good old consumer who supports hotchips really hurst the industry in general. Every legit dealer has to compete with a grey import as the consumer thinks he's getting a legit deal.

BTW, Kristal are not a legit dream dealer either. So naturally their price is cheaper than the real deal.

GOOD LUCK TO THOSE WHO GET RIPPED OFF DAILY.

Want to know another thing-Hotchip/smartgadets on oztek have the same server???go figure. A67 also got paid $36,000 this year to support hotchips. So if you wanna know what the truth is in this industry just ask the whistle cause he'll blow all day.

rfwhistle
Authorised Australian dealers, thats good the only problem is that the list of them is a bit on the nose,,,,WSM hummmmmmm!!,,,,a Police raid at Patterson Lakes Hummmmmmm!! and not that shop that advertised in WA on the News groups for Goldie's for an "X" amount of money.
Maybe Frankfly is correct "DREAM MEDIA" in Germany should be contacted and told about some of their shonky dealers.
I don't have a "wankbox" and I don't give a shit but I can see that our local Australian dealers are worried because by the look of it Hotchips are selling them and the rest hummmmmm just collecting dust.!
Phil

PS how do you get a dealership on anything selling them???,,,,,,,,or not???.Will investigate. Or is this a case of sour grapes from the authorised dealers who can't sell them???
Phil

[ 15. Something for you all to read

Extract from the department of fair trading

When do you have a right to a refund?
Simply, a refund would be in order if the goods:
• have a fault that you could not have known about when you purchased them
• do not do the job that you were led to believe they would do
• do not match a sample you were shown
• Are not as they were described.
Remember:
• you cannot ask for a cash refund if you did not pay cash
• you might only be entitled to a part refund if the goods have been used or the goods were bought on terms.

Don't believe everything you read
"No refunds" signs are illegal. If you buy a faulty product and you weren't aware of the fault at the time of the sale, you can usually return it to the store and expect either:
• a repair
• a replacement or
• a refund.

What if I simply change my mind?
If you simply change your mind and want to return the goods, the seller doesn't have to accept the goods back and give a refund. If the seller is prepared to exchange or give you a credit note, it is an expression of goodwill.

Your obligations as a customer
If you ask for a refund you should:
• report the fault and return the goods as soon as possible
• give details of the fault and what remedy you would like
• provide proof of purchase
• be sure you did not cause the fault
• stop using the faulty goods until they can be returned
• look after the goods until they are returned.

Rights of a trader
A trader does not have to provide a refund if:
• no proof of purchase is offered
• customers simply change their mind
• the goods have been damaged after purchase
• customers knew, or should have known about any faults when they bought the goods, for example as seconds. (However, if a second has a fault that the customer was not aware of, or could not have discovered upon a reasonable inspection, when the item was bought, they would be entitled to a refund, repair or exchange).

Services supplied by a company
Services supplied by a company must be carried out with due skill and care. This means that they should be of a standard and quality that could be reasonably expected from a competent person in that particular trade or industry.
You should make it clear to the service provider what you want done. If you insist on having a service carried out in a particular way or with particular materials against the service provider's advice, the service provider cannot be held responsible if the result is unsatisfactory because the method or materials were unsuitable.
If the service provider fails to meet its obligations, you can claim compensation for expensed incurred as a result of loss or damage.
Some service providers try to limit their responsibility by using signs like 'No responsibility for loss or damage' or 'Goods left for repair at your own risk'. These signs are misleading. A consumer must generally be compensated for repairs or services that are not carried out with appropriate care and skill. For instance, carpet cleaners are responsible for making sure that their cleaning method doesn't result in carpet shrinkage.

What is a credit note?
If you return an item because you no longer fancy it then the retailer is not obliged to give you a refund. They may instead give you a credit note in exchange for taking the item back. The credit note will allow you to buy something else at the store. It is a goodwill gesture on the part of the retailer. If you are returning goods because they are faulty, you may be within your rights to refuse a credit note and demand a full refund, or alternatively a replacement or repair.
Often when a credit note is issued, little consideration is given to matters such as time limits eg. what if you cannot decide on another purchase in a reasonable time, or what happens at the end of the set time limit? It is important that you negotiate these points at the time that the credit note is issued.
Top of page
Unable to resolve a refund problem?
If after contacting the trader you still cannot solve a refund issue you can contact Fair Trading.

NSW Office of Fair Trading
1 Fitzwilliam Street, Parramatta NSW 2150 Australia
Tel: 61 2 9895 0111 Fax: 61 2 9895 0222 TTY: 61 2 9338 4943
Disclaimer/Copyright and Linking Policy/Privacy Statement
© NSW Office of Fair Trading All rights reserved
So what does this mean

Well if you purchased a “Grey import” so to speak you still have rites only the person and or Company that sold you the product has to make good on any defect

i would go for the refund option my self
