Magnitude 4.8 earthquake strikes near Calama, Provincia de El Loa, Antofagasta, Chile

The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 4.8 quake in Chile near Calama, Provincia de El Loa, Antofagasta, only 10 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Friday 7 May 2021 at 11:01 am local time at an intermediate depth of 113 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.9.
