Small earthquake of magnitude 3.1 just reported 33 miles northwest of Toyah, Texas, United States3.1 quake 31 May 10:55 pm (GMT -5) Just 22 minutes ago, a 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Toyah, Reeves County, Texas, USA. The tremor was recorded late at night on Monday 31 May 2021 at 10:55 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 4.4 miles below the surface. The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it. A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.1 earthquake as well. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Toyah (pop. 98, 33 miles away), and Pecos (pop. 9,500, 46 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
