Significant earthquake of magnitude 6.0 just reported 60 miles northeast of Fishhook, Alaska, United States
6.0 quake 30 May 10:59 pm (GMT -8)

The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 6.0 quake in the United States near Fishhook, Matanuska-Susitna, Alaska, only 9 minutes ago. The earthquake hit late at night on Sunday 30 May 2021 at 10:59 pm local time at a moderately shallow depth of 28 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 6.2 earthquake. A third agency, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), reported the same quake at magnitude 6.1.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.

Weak shaking might have been felt in Eagle River (pop. 24,800) located 90 miles from the epicenter, and Eagle River (pop. 24,800) 90 miles away.
