Moderate tremor of magnitude 4.1 just reported 46 km northeast of Nago, Japan 4.1 quake 1 Aug 4:53 pm (GMT +9) Just 19 minutes ago, a 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Nago, Nago Shi, Okinawa, Japan. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Sunday 1 August 2021 at 4:53 pm local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 30 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Nago (pop. 59,600) located 46 km from the epicenter, Ishikawa (pop. 22,400) 71 km away, Gushikawa (pop. 65,300) 72 km away, Katsuren-haebaru (pop. 34,200) 74 km away, Okinawa (pop. 125,500) 79 km away, Chatan (pop. 27,800) 83 km away, Chinon (pop. 91,800) 87 km away, Naha (pop. 300,800) 96 km away, and Tomigusuku (pop. 55,700) 99 km away.
