Small magnitude 3.4 quake hits 41 miles southeast of South Lake Tahoe, California, United States early morning

Just 7 minutes ago, a 3.4-magnitude earthquake struck near South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County, California, USA. The tremor was recorded early morning on Sunday 29 August 2021 at 6:23 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 2.2 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.4 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Walker (pop. 720) located 4 miles from the epicenter.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Topaz Ranch Estates (pop. 1,500) located 14 miles from the epicenter, Smith Valley (pop. 1,600) 17 miles away, Smith (pop. 1000) 19 miles away, and Gardnerville Ranchos (pop. 11,300) 30 miles away. In Gardnerville (pop. 5,700, 33 miles away), Gardnerville (pop. 5,700, 33 miles away), and South Lake Tahoe (pop. 21,700, 41 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
