Moderate magnitude 4.6 earthquake 73 km north of Sopur, Pakistan 4.6 quake 28 Sep 5:36 am (GMT +5) An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred only 18 minutes ago 73 km north of Sopur, Pakistan, India's National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported. The quake hit at an intermediate to considerable depth of 286.1 km beneath the epicenter near Sopur, Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, India, early morning on Tuesday, September 28th, 2021, at 5:36 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Bandipura (pop. 32,000, 61 km away), Sopur (pop. 63,000, 73 km away), Bāramūla (pop. 77,300, 82 km away), Gāndarbal (pop. 16,300, 85 km away), Soyībug (pop. 104,000, 99 km away), and Muzafarabad (pop. 725,000, 108 km away), the quake was probably not felt. VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our reporting mechanism, either online or via our mobile app. This will help us provide more first-hand updates to anyone around the globe who wants to know more about this quake.
